Whether you’re a beginner or a more experienced needle crafter, you’ll find a great selection of classes at our shop.  What a fun way to learn a new skill and share a couple hours with others knitting, crocheting, spinning or quilting!  To help you choose a class that’s right for you, stop in and see samples of class projects on display in our store.  For your convenience, we offer both daytime, evening and Saturday classes. As many of us enjoy this short break from our daily work and responsibilities, we kindly ask that you leave your children at home during class time.


     In order to keep the price of our classes as reasonable as they are, we require that you buy class supplies in our shop.   You will be given a class supply list when you register.  Along with your supply list, you will receive a 15% off coupon to be used towards your class supply purchases.


     Our highly skilled and knowledgeable store employees teach majority of our classes and would be happy to assist you in choosing a class and selecting the necessary supplies for that class.   Be sure and sign up early as classes fill very quickly.  In order to reserve a spot in class, we require at least 50% down with the balance due at your first class.  Phone registrations will only be taken if accompanied by credit card payment.   In the event a class is full, please put your name on our waitlist and we’ll consider adding additional classes if possible.  When you register for one of our classes, please have all your supplies when you come for your first class. Knitting Skills

Want to sign up for a knitting class but you’re not sure you have the necessary skills? We have knitting classes for you regardless of your current skill level.

  • Beginner - No previous knitting skills required.
  • Advanced Beginner - Should know how to cast on, bind off, decrease, increase, knit and purl, and have made at least one garment.
  • Intermediate - Know the basics (above) and have done a few different stitch patterns.
  • Advanced - Have made several garments in various stitch patterns; are comfortable making minor changes to patterns. Fun and challenging for the “thinking knitters”.

Beginning Knitting I             Skill Level: Beginner

If you’ve ever wanted to learn to knit, read a pattern, and many more basics, this class is for you.  Whether you’ve dabbled just a little into knitting or have never touched needles, learn great techniques from the beginning.  By class end, you’ll have completed a small bear sweater which walked you through the necessary paces of basic knitting. All supplies needed (yarn, needles and book) are included in the 4 week class fee of $48.00 (GREAT VALUE)! These classes tend to fill quickly so don’t hesitate to register now.

Beginning Knitting II             Skill Level: Beginner

After learning the basics and more in Beginning Knitting I, your instructor will help you select a pattern and yarn of your choosing to create your first sweater. In addition to learning new knitting skills, plan on learning from each other’s projects too! Instruction fee for this 4 week session is $38.00.

Beyond Knitting II Barb (Wednesday)            Skill Level: Intermediate +

If you’re ready to take your knitting to a new level, this new 6 week class is just for you.  Bring a challenging new project of your own choosing, and work with other intermediate and above knitters.  In addition to providing help with your individual project, each week the instructor will demonstrate interesting new tips and techniques such as 3-needle bind off, short row shoulder shaping, modular knitting, cables, and many more.  Instruction fee for this 6 session is $54.00 and includes a discounted coupon for any supplies purchased for this class.

Beaded Fingerless Gloves with Pam              Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Warm up those hands with a new pair of beaded fingerless gloves.  Using the colorful Koigu yarn you will knit a beautiful pair of fingerless gloves that will feel great on your hands and keep them warm during the winter months.  Learn how to bead while doing a cable up the back of the glove (or bead without the cable), make a gusset for the thumb, and knit the thumb.  If you need a quick gift for somebody, here is the answer.  Instruction fee for this 2 week session is $28.00.  A supply list including the glove kit will be provided when you register.

Let's Make Mittens Workshop with Nancy              Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

blue sockLearn the basics of knitting mittens using double point needles.  At the end of the class your mittens will be well underway to being finished. You will learn the “hidden increase”.  Mittens can be varied to student’s taste.  The mittens can made from toddler to adult men sizes.  You will also receive a pattern for fingerless mittens.  Some pre-class preparation is explained with the supply list when you register.  Instruction fee for this 4 hour workshop is $20.00.  Bring your lunch to this session and have some fun with us!

Wrap Me Up with George Ann                    Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

A mblue sockodular sampler wrap that's over-the-top in color and texture - as much fun to make as it is to wear.  Choose a worsted weight, self-striping yarn, maybe a few beads (optional) and you're ready to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.   What a fun to make, fun to wear, one size fits all wrap!   Since each section of this stunning wrap contains unique stitching, this 2 hr class will be held just once a month to give you plenty of knitting time between sections – less pressure and more fun!  Instruction fee for each month will be only $8.00 and should be completed in 6 sessions.  A supply list will be provided when you register.

Mendocino Sweater with Barb                 Skill Level: Intermediate

Mendocino sweaterThis charming sweater pattern combines cables and slanted ridges to create a gently A-line jacket.  Buttonholes are created as you knit the front so no need to pickup stitches. The pattern is written for an experienced knitted and will prove somewhat challenging as you learn to interpret the pattern, read from a chart, create basic cables and buttonhole construction.  The pattern includes instructions for sport/DK weight or worsted weight yarns.  The model was made with “Mermaid” on size 6 & 7 needles.  The finished sizes include:  39, 42, 45, 51, 54.      Instruction fee for this 6 week session is $54.00.  A supply list will be provided when you register.

Cables & Ladders with Barb                Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Combine simple cables with garter stitch “ladders” to make this attractive short sleeeve pullover which would be very pretty either paired with slacks or a skirt. Use either sport, DK, or light worsted yarn for lots of drape. The model is made with “Miracle”. The finished size of the this sweater is 38, 40 or 42 but made be made larger by using worsted weight yarn with larger needles. The size and needle size will be adjusted to suit the yarn you choose to use. Instruction fee for this 3 week session is $38.00. A supply list will be provided when you register.

Einstein Coat with George Ann                Skill Level: Beginner

This very popular garment is called the Einstein coat because you feel like a genius when you’reeinstein_coat done with it - it’s so very easy to create this beautiful coat.  This is a wonderful first project for the newer knitter!  The yarn sits in your lap while you knit- just turn the pieces when told, working only 2 seams and viola, you have a coat!  Designed by Sally Melville, from her book The Knitting Experience: Book I, The Knit Stitch ,  knitters of all sizes love this fabulous garter stitch coat (sized from Small to XXL, with finished measurements from 40”-56” for the worsted weight version and 46”-62” for the heavier bulky weight yarn version – its all up to you. Mitered-Square Triangle Shawl with Nancy                 Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

This gorgeous shawl showcases the new shaded colors of yarns and yarns with large color stripes. There’s no sewing together of squares, so there is very little finsihing .  In the first class you are given the option of learning and using the provisional cast on technique. 
WARNING!!  Knitting mitered squares can become addictive!  Note that 4 weeks is left between sessions so students will be able to make substantial progress on their shawl.  Instruction fee for this 2 week session is $28.00.  A supply list will be provided when you register.

Cate's Lace Scarf with Cate               Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Want to learn lace but have been held back by either those dreadful charts or those “holes” youCate'slace scarf keep making in the wrong place?  This scarf will not only help you jump these knitting hurdles but also help you produce a beautiful lace scarf.  Bring all your lace questions and an answer will be provided!  We will cover several basic lace techniques and work a few swatches before we begin the lace scarf.  Also we will refresh on lace chart reading and most importantly:  How to correct mistakes in lace!  This class will not only help you knit a beautiful lace scarf, but also prepare you for any future lace classes.  Instruction fee for this 3 week session is $35.00.  A supply list will be provided when you register.

Finishing Your Sweater with Carol                    Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

If you’re stuck (like many of us) on finishing your latest project then this is the perfect class for you!  Learn how to pick up stitches for an edging and do the one-row buttonhole.  Find out how to do different seams and when to use them.  Try different bind-off techniques to finish your knitted pieces.  Instruction for this 2 week class is $28.00.  A supply list will be provided when you register.  A small amount of homework is required.

Danish Tie Shawl with Ran                    Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Knit this attractive sweater using the interesting “linen stitch” – a firm, tightly woven stitch pattern that looks similar to the woven linen fabric.  This “relaxing to knit” stitch can certainly be used in many different projects, but you’re sure to enjoy knitting this true classic sweater pattern that will be worn again and again!  By using five different colors of worsted weight yarns, the combination of color and texture creates an absolutely stunning garment. One of the most popular innovations in the world of sock knitting is making your socks on 2 circular needles.  There will be various different patterns to choose from (your choice).  Along the way you will learn a band heel and wedge toe.  Once you try this, your sock knitting will never be the same.  This is not a beginning sock knitting class – you should have experience making socks using double point needles and understand sock construction before enrolling in this one.  Instruction fee for this 2 week session is $32.00.  A supply list will be provided when you register.

Beginner Wheel Spinning with Ileen             Skill Level: Beginner

spinningEver been fascinated watching someone spin on a spinning wheel and wonder what's involved in this interesting colonial craft? Ever want to venture into making your own handspun yarn? Now's your opportunity to learn the basic techniques of handspinning using a spinning wheel. We'll discuss spinning wheels, various fibers, drafting your wool, spinning and basic plying methods. You will have plenty of time to experiment with your new skills on the shop's Louet wheels which will be used for class. Instruction fee for this 1 week session is $28.00 and includes roving samples and handouts. Each class session is limited to 3 students for more individual attention.

You’ve learned to make single ply yarn, now learn how to ply it and make two or more plied yarns.  We will discuss the various methods of fiber preparation and you will even be able to try your hand at each method!  You should have previously attended Beginning Wheel Spinning or have comparable experience.  You can use your own wheel or one of ours.  Instruction fee for this 1 week session is $28.00. Beginner Drop-Spindle Spinning with Cris            Skill Level: Beginner

Now you can learn to spin with a drop-spindle.  Learn this relaxing, meditative and extremely ancient method to produce yarn for using in knitting, weaving, embroidery, or whatever your hobby or passion. You’ll learn how to use a high-whorl drop spindle to spin yarn, a nostepinde to wind a center-pull ball, and plying back onto the spindle from the ball.  Instruction fee for this 1 week session is $30.00 and includes a spindle for you to keep, fiber to spin in class and handouts.  Each class session is limited to 4 students for more individual attention.

QUILTING

Rotary 101 with Diane              Skill Level: Beginner

Start from the beginning and learn good rotary cutting skills.  We will cover some of the history of rotary cutting. You will learn how to measure accurately and cut safely using rotary cutter, ruler and mat.  This basic class is highly recommended for all new quilters and should be attended prior to other quilting classes.  Instruction fee for this 1 week class is only $16.00 (SPECIAL PRICING).

Beginning Hand Piecing with Diane             Skill Level: Beginner

Hand piece quilt making is fun and portable enough for relaxing work in your favorite chair or when riding along in the car. This class will teach the beginner the basic techniques to piece a quilt by hand. Discussion on fabric selection and supplies will be held during the 1st session. By the end you’ll have a finished project to make into a block or pillow. You should have previously attended Rotary Cutting 101 or have rotary cutting experience.  Instruction fee for this 2 week class is $32.00  A supply list will be provided when you register.

Hand Piecing Sampler with Diane             Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

After taking the Beginning Hand Piecing class, begin a hand pieced sampler.  We will construct several new blocks to complete the top of the sampler. You will learn to set-in seams, curves, adding borders and putting pieced blocks together.  Instruction fee for this 4 week class is $38.00.  A supply list will be provided when you register.

Binding Basics for “Hand” Quilters with Diane              Skill Level: Beginner / Advanced

Introduction to Paper Piecing with Doreen           Skill Level: Beginner

Do you have a problem with seams not matching or your blocks not coming out square? Then learn to paper piece. If you can sew on a line, your block will be perfect every time.  In this class you will learn how to center a design and create a finished block. Wine and Cheese Quilt with Doreen           Skill Level: Beginner

This is a fun quilt that uses either 9 different medium and light fabrics for the center or you can use 1 medium and light fabric like the store model.  This quilt is finished on one point.  Finished size of quilt is 64” x 80.  Note: FABRIC MUST BE CUT TO SIZES ACCORDING TO CUTTING DIRECTIONS BEFORE COMING TO CLASS. Remember your Mom or Grandma wearing aprons around the house?  They are back!  Make this updated 1940’s apron using today’s fun fabrics.  You will learn paper piecing and how to gather fabric the easy way.  Make one for yourself and one for your Mom, Grandma, or favorite Aunt.  eal to all sewers.  You will want to make one for all your cooking friends!  Instruction fee for this 2 week class is $35.00.  A supply list will be provided when you register.  PLEASE ARRIVE 15 MINUTES EARLY TO SET UP YOUR MACHINE!

Circle Dance Quilt with Doreen           Skill Level: Beginner

Have you been intimidated with piecing curves?  It’s easy if you know the right technique.  Using Elisa’s Backporch 7” template some template plastic, you will learn to cut out two sizes of drunkard’s path block.  As a bonus, you will receive alternate block settings for the drunkard’s path block.  Instruction fee for this 2 week class is $35.00.  A supply list will be provided when you register.   PLEASE ARRIVE 15 MINUTES EARLY TO SET UP YOUR MACHINE!

School of Quilting with Diane   BRAND NEW SESSION!!               Skill Level: Beginner / Advanced

new symbolSchool is in session!   “School of Quilting” is a new series quilt designed especially for the beginner quilter and is presented in 8 Learn to Quilt A Block of the Month Book for teaching quiltmaking classmonthly lessons.  Each month you will learn a different component of quilting, all done by machine.  You will receive instructions for the quilt, wonderful reference materials and instructions for a “bonus” quilt!  Come learn to quilt with us and begin your quilting journey!  Each quilt block session will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.  Each month’s pattern and instruction will cost $12.50.  Once you commit to this BOM, your credit card will be automatically charged for that month’s block if you aren’t in the shop to pay for each session in person.    A supply list will be provided when you register.

"Wish Upon a Star"BOM with Diane

This quilt is absolutely stunning!  We know you'll love the pattern so much because you can wish_upon_a_star_quiltpick your own colors to use (with our help if you need it).  How many times have you wanted to take a class but the fabrics used were not your favorite. Now you can choose!   This is a 12-month series with the first month choosing your colors and purchasing your fabrics.  The blocks you will be making include Floating Star, Square in a Square, Spinning Star, Flying Geese, Ohio Star, Pinwheel, Zig-Zag Border, Han's Panel, Ribbon Border and a paper-pieced Feathered Star.  Each month you will be given instruction on how to cut your fabric for that month’s block.   This new BOM will be held the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 1:00pm -2:00pm  starting January 13.  The first month is a 3-hour session, with the remaining months only 1-hour long.     Note:  Each month’s,  pattern and instruction will cost $5.00 and you must separately purchase the fabric for your quilt top at our shop (we’ll help you select your colors at the first class).  Once you commit to this BOM, your credit card will be automatically charged for that month’s block if you aren’t in the shop to pay for each session in person.       

Just a reminder - The Tuesday night “Wish Upon A Star” resumes in January (for those already attending this session)  and continues to be held the 1st Tuesday of each month from 6:30 – 7:30 on Tuesday, January 5, February 2, March 2, April 6, etc.
